Baltimore County Executive and Maryland Gubernatorial Candidate Kevin Kamenetz passed away suddenly early Thursday morning of cardiac arrest.
County Administrative Officer Fred Homan will serve as Acting County Executive until the County Council can appoint an appropriate replacement to serve out the remainder of Kamenetz’ term. Kamenetz became the Baltimore County executive in 2010 and was most recently serving his second term.
Baltimore County government offices are scheduled to close at 1:30 p.m. Friday out of respect for Kamenetz.
